Strip away the studio candles and a pedicure is a sequence, and every step earns its place. Feet are cleansed and soaked to soften the skin. Toenails are shaped, and we cut them straighter across than fingernails, because rounding the corners too deep is how ingrown nails start. Cuticles are pushed back and tidied so the colour sits on nail, never on skin.
撇开店里的香氛蜡烛，美足其实是一套顺序，每一步都有它的用处。先清洁、泡脚，把皮肤泡软。然后修剪甲形，脚趾甲我们会剪得比手指甲平直一些，因为两角修得太圆太深，嵌甲就是这样开始的。接着把护甲皮往后推、修干净，让颜色只落在甲面上，绝不压在皮肤上。
Then comes the part hands never need: heels and pressure points are smoothed so hard skin stops building and cracking, the nail surface is buffed, and colour goes on in thin layers with the free edge capped to seal the tip. A full session ends with feet that feel lighter, not just look painted.

Our pedicure menu runs on the same three tiers as the manicure menu. Express Gel is a quick reset: one colour, in and out in under an hour, for feet that were done recently and just need fresh polish. Full Classic Gel is the proper sit-down session, with cuticle care before the colour. Full Japanese Gel is the works: full cuticle removal plus an overlay for strength, unhurried, closer to two hours.

Gel or regular polish on your toes?
脚趾用凝胶还是普通指甲油？
Regular polish dries in air, dents in your shoes on the walk home and swims off at the pool. Gel cures hard under an LED lamp before you stand up, which is why nearly every pedicure we do now is gel. The surprise for most first-timers is how long it holds on toes.
普通指甲油靠风干，回家路上就被鞋子压出印，下水游个泳还会掉色。凝胶在 LED 灯下照硬了你才起身，所以现在我们做的美足几乎都是凝胶。多数第一次做的客人最惊讶的，是它在脚趾上能撑多久。
Here is what we see at the studio, week after week: gel on toes outlasts gel on fingers, usually by weeks. Qun's explanation is simple. Toenails grow more slowly than fingernails, so the regrowth line takes longer to show. And toes lead a quieter life. They are not typing, washing dishes or picking at parcel tape all day. Most clients comfortably get four to six weeks from a gel pedicure, and plenty go longer. A set usually retires because the regrowth gap shows, not because the colour failed.

The hygiene checks worth making in any salon
任何一家店都值得检查的卫生标准
Feet pick up problems more easily than hands, so read this before booking anywhere, including with us. Ask how the metal tools are sterilised; a serious answer involves heat or UV between clients, not a quick rinse. Ask whether files and buffers are fresh for each client; they are porous, cannot be fully sterilised, and should never travel from foot to foot. And look at the basin: it should be scrubbed, or lined fresh, between clients. A studio that does all this will be glad you asked.
脚比手更容易出问题，所以这一段我们最希望大家在预约任何一家店之前都读过，包括我们自己这家。问一句金属工具怎么消毒，认真的答案应该是每位客人之间做高温或紫外线消毒，而不是随手冲一冲。问一句锉条和抛光块是不是每位客人换新的，它们是多孔材质，没办法彻底消毒，不应该在不同人的脚之间来回用。再看一眼泡脚盆：每位客人之间要刷洗，或换上新的内衬。真的有做到这些的店，只会很高兴你问了。
Removal: soak it off, never drill it off
卸甲：用泡的，不用打磨机
Gel bonds to the nail plate; that is exactly why it lasts. The wrong way to break that bond is force: peeling, or grinding with a drill, both of which take layers of living nail along. The right way is patience. Buff the topcoat, soak in acetone for ten to fifteen minutes, and lift the softened gel gently. At yeux, removal is free for any work done at yeux, $10 for gel mani or pedi done at other studios, and $20 for extensions from other studios. If a corner lifts early, come in for the soak instead of picking at it.
